Just curious about what is best on my home av set up.

1st i dont have a sexy flat screen yet, but in time maybe.

At present i have a 28" widescreen JVC tv, great picture as far as i can tell, but then i dont know any better.

Now i have a SONY AV amp/ receiver.

My DVD player (JVC) has s-video, composite (R,G,B), Scart, video out, coax out etc( No optical), I use the scart output straight to my TV. and the digital coax from my DVD player goes to my COAX input on my amp using Monster Cable interlink datalink 100. 1metre.
Now im pretty much sure that sound wise i have the correct and best of availble connections but is scart the best of the options i have for sending the image to the TV ? My tv has 3 scarts, s-video and a single yellow phono video in.

thanks

Just make sure that the scart socket is RGB compatible (usually socket/AV 1) and that the DVD player is set to output RGB and if you have a widescreen set the DVD player to 16:9.

When you use your seperates make sure the inbuilt TV speakers are off.

Other than that, fine :)

understood, so your telling me the best out put from my video would be perhaps to get a Scart to RGB cable, (scart in the TV then 3 phonos to the dvd player) ?

composite is pretty much the video signal before it is combined with a sound signal and modulated onto an RF carrier, its not an RGB output, RGB is a type of component video signal which consists of three signals red, green and blue as you probably already know. your dvd is equipped with a nice component output with each signal having its own run but your tv isnt so you simply need to get an RGB component to scart cable.

I used this but less the audio when I had a tv with no component input, great quality cable

as Tesla says make sure your jvc tv has an rgb input via the scart, our old jvc 28" didnt.

Nope just a Fully wired Scat Lead (Scart to Scart)!!!... then in the DVD Setup menu make sure you set the Scart output to RGB....

That isnt going to work.

RGB and component are not the same.

As per my mini guide in the sticky component consists of:

Y – The luminance signal (brightness/black & white information)
Pb or Cb – How much blue there is relative to luminance.
Pr or Cr – How much red there is relative to luminance.

Whereas RGB consists of RED, GREEN & BLUE.
