What's the best pump these days

When I did this last it was a Laing DDC.

So what is it now

D5 is probably the best.

The DDC is not a bad pump though and works well in small cases due to its size.

thats what advice i was offered as well in the d5, interestingly looking at my old invoices from ocuk that was the same pump i used a few years back as well so the d5 must be doing something correct

Nothing much has changed it seems. D5 or DDC depending on space availability.

Probably the D5 although I don't see much point in changing the pump just for the sake of changing. I am still running my original Aquaextreme 50z pumps which have been faultless.

It's an external setup. Big 140mm rad. I use to run dual pumps before.

It'll be for a CPU only by the looks

My rads are external as well and sit in a filtered box on a windowsill so that they get cooler outside air through them. Awesome temps in the winter!! Pumps and reservoir are also external.

Do you run the rads passive, out of interest ?

No, but I have had their fans down to a silent 600rpm in the Winter. I don't think I could run passive as the heating radiator on the landing warms them up if I turn the fan's too low.

I prefer ddc's now after using D5's for years. The new pwm ddcs let the pump run at 1300rpm making it inaudible.

Laing D5s are rated as 50,000 hours average life, so about 5 years of 24/7 use.

My Aquaextreme 50z's are my original pumps so must be 11-12 years old now and are still going strong. They aren't on 24/7 but are usually running for 10-11 hours a day.

Most d5 are PWM too as is my EK-D5

Mines currently sat at 1160 rpm. Though I have mine set to go off coolant temp rather than CPU .

Don't know if it's just me but even having the pump flat out makes little difference in temps

My preference is for a D5 pump, my currently Aqua Computer D5 is pretty quiet.

I use an Aquacomputer Aquastream Ultimate
Ocuk don't sell it im afraid.

Little more expensive, little bit bigger so difficult to fit in but oh its so quiet and contains a built in water temp sensor/flow rate sensor so it can alarm when issues etc.

I really am impressed with it.

Still the D5 vario IMO.

A lot of manufacturers are trying to push PWM pumps as a thing these days, it's still not as good/simple though.

Nowt really hard/technical about plugging in a fan header though is there

D5 vario for sure.

I've been using a DDC for a few months now and to tell the truth, it's noisy, and if connected to the CPU PWM header still runs at full pelt on startup + when CPU load changes (even with the pump set to a fixed speed using speedfan or whatever)

Meanwhile the D5 is cool and silent even when run on 5, the highest setting.

If you have the space always go for a D5
