hey,

I'm after the best SSD available 2-4TB.
My build is around £4.5k total. looking for best performance.

what are my options if i dont want to go samsung? want something nice and reliable and fast.

Supposedly the firmware update 'fixes' the issue on the samsung, even so I'm not sure I'd risk it personally.

Honestly most Gen4 2-4TB ssd's, assuming they're rated the same '7000mb/s' range, are going to run so close to one another that you'll not be able to tell the difference outside of benchmarks. I'd try to make sure that it has a dram cache though.

The sn850x at £150 is a good price for 2TB drive with dram imo, so I'd probably just go with that.

I've had no issues with my 2TB firecuda 530s, bit more expensive than the WD though and no obvious difference in real world performance.

My 990 Pro is fine since the firmware, dropped to 97% before the update but has now sat like that for the last few weeks.

It's a good drive, 150 is a good price, but the 770 is £122, also gen 4 but with slower sustained read and write speeds, not that you will notice any difference in gaming and normal use between the two.

to be fair I generally recomend WD blue drives, as I'm not convinced it's worth paying extra over the black drives.

If doing a new build, the saving would be better put towards CPU/GPU
