being thinking of getting a ups for a while now, only thing putting me off so far is old 1 i used to have was so noisey, even with tv on full volume the fan just drowned out volume, question is are ups in genral still that loud or have they changed? plus some of my leads have changed so would need, not just standard kettle and usb leads but also need a lead thats 4 way standard 3 pin plug to ups. think ill be needing a ups that will handle 800-1000 watts, but by getting somthing that will handle this power will i get a lot of noise, unless there is a watercooled version i dont know about?
could some one please help me in right direction?

For my main system I use a APC Smart-UPS 1500VA and I had to replace the fan in it because of the noise.
Was easy to do and now I can run my system at full load and not hear it plus with the monitoring software I checked the temperatures of the UPS and the new fan was even better.

I don't think you will get any UPS for 800+ watts that is not going to have a fan in it that makes some noise.

As for the leads, I have a 4 gang to C14 power strip for things that can't use a kettle lead.

Looks like this.

Fans on this APC one come on when the power usage through the unit goes over 70% even when it is not running off the battery.

With it on a desktop PC you can just stop what you are doing if the power goes out.
At desktop/idle usage the run time is a good 30min which is normally plenty of time for the power to come back on.

mine just bit the dust, was second hand though, and fans was going whole time, any way thanks for showing the lead, but what model would you suggest to power my rig set up 800-1000+ watts? and if i got one more powerfull than i need would that make it quiter?

Depending on your budget I would pick up an "APC Smart-UPS 1500VA LCD 230V" or a 2200VA if you are really going to load over 1kW.
