Whats the best way for a student to get a job?

That's a pretty suicidal thing to say seeing as there's a rather large number of students on this forum. :D

Does your university not have notice boards? I got a job that way. We also have a careers type fair at the start of the year.

Hi!

Yeah I was thinking of that, but I go home on weekends so I wanted to have a job here.

Agencies? And yes im 18!

Job agency.
You'll find hundreds around town. Take about 20 cvs dress up. And go round and have a chat. Go these are the hours I can work. I can do any job manual labour/office/warehouse. Work inside or out. And you should have a job within days.

Why bother going home if it's to work? You may as well get a job at Uni?!

Last year, we had a publishing company offer us work at major events selling programmes. It was great. I did a few hours a day, for four days (not 9-5) and got £240, I think I worked about 20 hours, maybe less. I also got free premium paddock passes and long breaks. The first day I sold about 100programmes then finished and met all the riders in the motoGP. I'll be doing the same again this year.

I've also applied to Waterstones.

Cheers dude ill try that in a few weeks, im 18 soon :)

why when you're 18? There's plenty of jobs you can do whilst 17 and if it's only in a few weeks then you can apply do the interviews then you're ready to start on your 18th.

bar work as not as hard to get as everyone thinks, well decent bar work. I would never work behind a pub bar as the pay is just too low. a decent abr with about 50£ a night tips i would though, and did. shame its quiet as hell for bars this time of year now

Find some call centres in your area and give them a call, they have such a high turnover of staff your likely for find an opening. Decent pay and **** easy as well

If your looking to work at retail stores don't just walk up to any monkey that works there and ask/hand in CV. We just bin them or say no jobs, ask for the manager or "level 2" and then ask/hand in CV :)
