What's the best way to configure a mouse for gaming?

I should add I have no problem with the black one... so I can't really see how the white one could be an improvement

Starting to find 2000 dpi a bit slow on a Copperhead. Mamba seems to go far higher but I can imagine 5600 dpi being just a tad too sensitive.
