What's the best way to cook rice?

The total absorption method works best I find for nicely cooked fluffy rice. But I usually use microwave rice cooker. Load the rice p, fire some water in. Nuke for 10 mins. Good enough.

Wash 1 cup of rice (Put rice in sieve and run water from the tap over it) and put in a pan.
Add 2 cups cold of water to pan and bring to boil
Put on lid (must be tight fitting) and simmer for 8 mins
Take off heat and leave with lid on for 8-10 min

Do not remove the lid until the rice is ready or it won't come out right. If you use a heavy pan with a tight fitting lid it comes out best. If not - use a tea towel between the pan and the lid (make sure the tea towel is folded up so it doesn't get burned).

Washing rice these days does not make a great deal of difference. I have done it with and without can't really say I have noticed.

Is that for brown rice?

Lakeland do a "rice boiler microwave gadget thingy" which is great. small cup of rice per person, microwave for 6 - 9 mins depending on number of people etc, stir, 6 - 9 mins again, drain, serve. works wonders

Go to lakeland limited, buy a microwaveable rice steamer

Plonk a cup of rice into it

Plonk some boiling water into it

Stuff it into the microwave for 15 mins, done! :)

We got one from Lakeland, best thing we ever bought. I can't find it on the Lakeland site but I think this is very similar if not the actual one.
