What's The Best Way To Rejoin These Wires?

Nice but expensive.

I could have done with a couple of those last night before the gig but had to quickly get the soldering iron out.
Worth it for those quick fix moments though.

Yeah they're a great thing to have under the seat or in the tool box for those need a fix but don't have the rest of my gear times.

Very good for tapping wires though as you don't permanently damage the other wire

Insulated barrel splice. Strip back wires 6mm. Insert into barrel, squish with pliers, repeat other end.

You could also use IDC splices but they are somewhat bulky and may not fit the gauge of the wires.

I'd probably just solder and heatshrink them all though, but if they have broken due to inflexibility and constant movement then soldering won't alleviate the issue and they will eventually break again.

Ok, well I soldered one wire to an extra length, but decided the wire I used to tie in, is too thick, so will buy some thinner wire tonight. The problem was that once soldered, the wire was too thick and very rigid so I'm worried it will snap at the solder joint.

OK, I've decided to use this solution, which is best as I want to minimise the soldering and will heartstrings after crimping. What do you think? It's just 2 ferrules with heat shrink ends slotted into each other:

strip the covers off to expose more copper

wrap around each other

hold a lighter to it in order to melt them together

let it cool down

put electrical tape over

done!

There are still dispensations to allow people to be burnt at the stake, right?

Advocating the use of Scotchlocks must be one of them!

:D

Don't knock Scotchlocks!

All the work required to fix the failures/fires caused by using them kept my family in foreign holidays and new cars for decades.

tidy it up first, so you can see what's going on. It looks like a twisted mess begging for a short.

Strip the sheaths back so you can make good contacts and insulate them properly. If you can't then just replace.

Looks like there was not a rubber grommet, and the wires were cut due to resting on a metal cut out, so you may want to fix that too.

Solder....not in automotive work. I would be crimping suitable ends on. Rubber insulted bullet types would work well in that situation.

Partly agree, although given that it's a seat loom and not subject to much vibration, I'd personally solder it. If it was in the engine bay then I'd crimp it, as you say.
