Advertised it for a friend Autotrader says its worth £490 but advertising it at £385 has only brought a few interested peeps, and it's previously been written off due to a door dent !

Scrap it and write off the extra £200 you'd have gotten for dealing with the type of people who buy £400 cars.

Cheap cars should always be listed on Gumtree they sell instantly on there as that's what buyers are looking for on the car section cheap runarounds

Definitely gumtree. There's tons of wanted ads on there along the lines of "Single mum, need an car, £300 to spend"

It's on Gumtree and Facebook :) Is eBay worth the cost seems expensive.

Ebay will get you a much bigger market, but cost you £30-45 if you go for an auction/BIN or £15 for a classified, I guess it depends if you think you will get £30-40 more by selling on Ebay (or if it will sell much quicker) as to whether it's worth it.

Another vote for Gumtree here. Sold a £400 Fiesta on it in less than a day, after having paid for eBay and AutoTrader.

I sell cars like this on eBay, they always sell within the 7 day listing very easily. Even non running cars which need trailering.

You laugh, but my experience tells me he is correct.

I sold a Focus recently with 100k+ miles and scratches/scrapes on pretty much every corner with an MOT expiring the following month (it would have needed £250+ spent on it). The interior was immaculate and it had heated leather seats so not all bad.

I advertised it for £850 and had so many time wasters. One crazy woman let me down twice on the same day, I had loads of emails where I was asked "is it still available?" only to never hear from them again.

In the end I sold it to a couple of Ghanian guys who tested the car by bringing a CD of music and turning it up really loud on my driveway.

Not a pleasant experience all round.

The chap who bought my old Rover 600 did this too, and then listened to it all the way home (I had to drive it there for him, as he hadn't passed his test yet!)
