Hey dudes,

Looking to buy an external harddrive to put media on. Specs i'm looking for are:

500gb
usb2.0
esata
runs cool (highly preferable to be silent)

Ideally like to keep costs under £100.

First option is:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-122-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=911

Second is to:

get a good 500gb harddrive (whats best - samsung f1, western ABYS/AAKS,seagate 7200.11?)

and use an icybox (such as http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-004-BT&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=72)

would also like to match my other stuff (black/silver with blue lights) hence the specific icybox.

Cheers

Bought my bro that icybox, the blue lights look really naff IMO. Bro always has them on when I go over his *rolls eyes*.

I have one of the WD Mybook drives which you have in your link and has been working great for me. It has to run standing up as I tried it on its flat but the heat couldn't escape from the side vents quick enough resulting in it getting very hot.

But standing up like it should, it runs very cool indeed and on top of that, its quiet.

Money well spent imo.
