what decent looking coolers do you guys recommend as i looking to get 1 but it must be cool to look at, lol neons are good stylish features but must offer good cooling as im looking to OC my Q6600 to about 3.0Ghz - 3.5Ghz

Two things:

a) browsing of my new spec PC now with a Zalman CNPS9700, looks mint and im an oh so dangerous 28C at the moment with the fan running SILENTLY at ~50%, dunno why people **** this cooler off. (Edit: Whole thing installed last night so that temp will drop around 5C once bedded in)

b) I bought the Sphere for my dad HAHA, in the same order as my parts for two reasons: Dying to see what it looks like and also it's jsut for a 3.4ghz Prescott, couldn't give a monkies because it runs real hot anyway.

Well firstly, it's around the same size as the Zalman, which is kinda big, for football fans out there; think of a size 2 football. Also there are very few reviews for it, it's kinda new, but the one i saw it got 92% and on the comparison tables it was mid-high up there, running quieter than the zalman, but few degrees off cooling. So i wouldn't say its rubbish, just not overclocking material. Looks awesome though. Also take a look at Asus Arctic Tower, though again performanc eis questionable...but would look amazing on an Asus board :)

What are you measuring your temps with and is that under load?

Asus Probe (BIOS confirms it), and that's in both general desktop activites/browsing. In Crysis, it sits at 28C which is very interesting. Crysis seems to use <5% of my CPU lol!

The air from my case is ice cold, it's like having air-con in my room, i had to close my windows.

Though i'm not going to jump the gun here, because turning the fan up an extra 500 RPM has zero effect, as does turning it down 500RPM. My last P4 prescott measured temps at around 80C at startup, god knows what under load. Is it just the thermal gauge in Asus boards are....crap?

i dont think the thermalright will fit my case(see sig) i think i will need a shorter cooler any recommendations

I wouldn't take it as Gospel what your BIOS reports...

My daughters reports....
