Just to update, my SMSL arrived quickly, and it works very well.
I'd say the sound isn't quite as warm as my old Fiio E17/E9 combo, but its got a very neutral, clear sound with absolutely no background noise transmitted via lineout I can tell.
Windows 7 it'll only go up to 24/192 over USB, however Windows 10 it'll hit 32/192 PCM which I'm using. It'll apparently do 32/384 via WASAPI/Foobar with the custom drivers, but it won't do that for PCM. The C-Media chip it uses does have some driver 'enhancements' but not touched those!
As a plus side, the box is also smaller and neater than my old combo. I also love the little screen with screen saver functionality.
Happy
When I can dig out my 3.5mm to 6.35mm adaptor, I'll test out some of the headphones I have to hand, my old E17/E9 did introduce a little noise at higher amplification levels and it'll be nice to see if this keeps that down.![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
