Whats the difference?

I'm a fairweather bencher :p

made me lol

dude if you benched then stabilty would not matter its the submited score

dont say you never use your pc unless its stable as your pc must fail prime sometimes so benching on an unstable system is just as bad as running prime on it
so sorry duder your not a bencher at all!!!!
to be a bencher your system must be pushed to the limits for the score not the limit of stability

So which is it? It seems even you cannot decide.

Still undecided? First you say that stabilty doesn't matter only the score.

Then you say in the next breath benching on an unstable system is bad!

easy has a 8400GS cause buying a 8800 series card right now is maddness.

In truth you are pooring 300 big ones on tech that is dead.
In truth you are pouring money into a benchmark that doesn't really prove anything. :p

Easy has an 8400gs because he doesn't game, in a thread asking which gtx to buy for gaming, this logic doesn't work too well.

Though I would advise the OP to look into the 8800gt/gts if he games under 1920x1200.

There are a few GTX's in MM

Secondhand would be the way to go here with a GTX.

But not worth buying a new one with 9800 so close.

If a second hand 8800gtx can be found for cheap 2nd hand, then agreed, go for it.

The 9800gx2 is nothing new, will cost a fortune and most probably have a few problems. Nothing to worry about there. :p
