Whats the difference?

In real world terms is there much difference to be noticed between asynchronous flash in an SSD (cheap SATA 3 drive) and the more expensive memory, say the M4.

Basically I have the option of a 256Gb M4 or a cheaper 240Gb SSD and a nice Shinobi case for a drop more monies.

edit: just wanna add on the cheaper asynchronous drives performance drops off a lot when the drive starts to fill up,theres no performance loss when drive fills up on synchronous nand ssd's
