What's the furthest you have travelled to buy an item in person?

I also technically went to Australia to buy a PAL version of Animal Crossing for the GameCube (Wasn't available in Europe and Aus is PAL). Okay it was a holiday but I wasn't leaving without a copy :).

That's brought back some memories.

I had no idea how late Europe had that game compared to the rest of the world. Back in the wild west days of game releases.

Someone was selling a £300 child's pram for £70. I drove 280 miles round trip to get it.

Mrs drove from Sheffield to London (just inside ULEZ) this week for a specialist pushchair for our lad. Seller wanted £30 for it however 2nd hand they're usually around £300, new ranging from £700-900.

Not far at all for me. I think around 80 miles each way for a bargain electric wood splitter. Just factored in the money spent on fuel and my time and it worked out a good deal.
The seller then chucked in their left over wood from their store as they were taking out their log burner.
The car was rammed to the gunnels with seats down and wood fuel wedged everywhere.
Was very much driving miss daisy on the way back, given the weight in the hatchback car.

Same here. Drove to the outskirts of Bordeaux (150 mile round trip) to pickup a 4 tonne electro-hydraulic splitter that was a third of the price of a new one. Put a longer mains cable on it and changed the hydraulic fluid and it’s splitting like a champ 4 years on.

A reverse answer but I once sold a Ford Focus (!) to a nice lady who travelled up from Essex to Glasgow. They took an overnight bus (!) and 'they' were her, her dad, her mum, and five brothers (!)

I'm still not sure who was more convinced they were going to get mugged, me or them.

e: and to resolve, no one got mugged which was good.
