What's the go to Display Port cable?

Hi,

My monitor didn't come with a Display Port cable, I borrowed one from work that would have come from dell 1080p 60hz monitor and is probably 5 years or more old. It seems to be fine but I might buy one to cherish forever and to cover future builds

Is it daft to buy one or is worth having a good display port cable?

Monitor is 1440p 155hz

Does your work expect to get the cable back? If not, and it's working, why spend anything?

Nah there's boxes of them, because a lot of people seem to recommend to make sure you have a good cable to ensure your getting the best out of your hardware

How far do you want the monitor to be from the PC? You're not going to have any issues with a standard 2 metre cable but you might find things get twitchy at 3+ metres. To get my 120 Hz 4K monitor working correctly with a longer cable I needed to go fibre-optic - £180 a pop. (Actually I purchased a 10m cable, but hey ho.)

Its just a standard setup so right next to it

So long as you can run 155Hz at 1440p without problems I wouldn't bother.
