Whats the hottest a CPU should run at?

Those 100C temps are obviously wrong, you must have not fitting the stock cooler correctly.

I had a lot of thermal paste instead of the little grain of rice and the stock cooler was BAD

until this afternoon my i7 920 oc to 4.0 was running at 100C under full relentless load in a hot room for 3 days solid.

i stuck a standard desk fan on the floor in front of case and temps went down by TWENTY C! (to 80C).
