So guys, a bit like the 'What film did you watch last night' thread, here's one for albums.

It would be appreciated it you only post your opinion on an album if you've listened to it in depth. I don't think it's justified to give an album a rating if you've skipped tracks or have only been giving it half your attention.

Main rule - State the album, genre, your rating AND your standout / recommended track.

I'll get us started.

Trivium – In Waves (2011) METAL – Critics hated it, I loved it. Back in style. Raw & punchy. One of the best metal albums I’ve heard in years. 8.5/10

Stand out track - In Waves.

What's the last album you listened to? :)

Malory - Pearl Diver - A dream pop shoegaze album in every sense of the word. Wonderful and up there with my favourite albums of all time 9.5/10

Stand out track - Floating (first track, a song of two halves)

Still great after 30 years. On the original recording when the geese fly across my cats sit up and take notice :)
I got a new CD player last night, so this went on. It's just sublime 10/10

Got this in my car just now - hadn't heard in in years and loving the majority of the tracks on it. Granted a few tracks are pretty dire but its a fairly good album imo :)

Heard he's also touring next year and is coming to Scotland - contemplating seeing him in concert depending on the ticket price!

Skillet - Awake

No idea, why I start listenting to this, had it for ages but heard one of their song's on the Transformers 3 soundtrack and it reminded me of them. Very good album. - 7/10

Rock

Stand out track:

Clapton Unplugged

Without sounding like Hitler, read the thread please. You've done nothing more than state an album name. Pretty much a pointless contribution to the thread.

At least let us know what you thought of the album.

Album Rating: 9/10

As you can see i rated it really well. This track that stood out the most, and is on my most played list is.

(I had to upload it myself because it wasn't even on Youtube...)

Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events (prog metal)

Had it most of the week (early pre-order from somewhere that sells stuff OCUK sells) and it's brilliant.... Portnoy may have been the heart of the group, but he's not a great miss.

I'll go for a 9/10 and I'll go for two standout tracks: On The Backs Of Angels and This Is The Life.

Glassjaw - Worship and Tribute

After seeing them live a couple of weeks ago I've been unable to stop listening to them. W&T isn't a perfect album - in fact it's probably only 2/3s a good record - but the good songs are bloody brilliant and as I've grown older, I've started to appreciate it more than their first record which was, for a very long time, one of my favourite records ever.

Their two latest EPs are head and shoulders above anything they've ever done, it must be said, but you asked for the last album I listened too so...

Elton John's Greatest Hits.

Only got this just this week gone, so couldn't pick anything that really stands out, but for what it's worth I've had The Bitch Is Back stuck in my head all day.

Complete with smug name dropping at the start...

The lead singer of the Gaslight Anthem's side project. A really, really good album - much better than either of the Gaslight Anthem's ones. A few standout songs, including Behold the Hurricane, and the below:
