I doubt personally that you will notice much (if any) difference changing to a new SSD. Though I suppose it does depend on what you use it for to a certain extent! Obviously the latest m.2 Nvme drives are in theory (at least sequential read/write) a hell of a lot quicker. But..

In the last few years, I went from a mechanical HD to Vertex 2 SSD, then a Vertex 4, then got a Samsung 840, then a Samsung 850, then a Samsung SM951, then a Samsung EVO 970 Nvme and finally a Corsair SM510. Only real WOW moment, was going from the mechanical HD to my first SSD. Only real noticable differences were running speed tests. Should mention maybe that I still use all these SSD's either as storage in current PC, or my backup / server etc.

So unless you want something bigger, or just fancy blowing some money, I would keep your wallet shut. Only my personal opinion of course.

Thanks, i sort of thought so, when i went from one of those spinny things that clicked and installed a ssd, it was pretty amazing i must say worth every penny, and still Impresses me every time i boot it up.

By the way how fast does the fastest ssd take to boot up nowadays, mine takes about 15 seconds win 10

Thanks

Not that much faster really.

Boot time as a metric is maybe not the best judge of speed. As there are so many other factors that effect this and a fair few can be tweaked in the bios to make a pc boot faster. That's before the obvious one of "hybrid shutdown" in Windows 8/10. It's now in my opinion a case of diminishing returns.

Obviously some of the fastest drives will benefit some folks (depending on work load) but to the average Joe, my recommendation is just to buy the best priced drive in the size that you want (taking warranty into account). Fair enough if you want the latest tech, or just fancy an upgrade. I suspect most folks have upgraded their PC's a few times when it really wasn't necessary, just for the hell of it. I know that I have, more than once.
