What's the latest version of mac osx?

If you have a Mac then it will just update. If you have a hackintosh, which I assume you don't as we can't talk about them here, and you've already been warned about it, then you generally can't use autoupdates as they break the hacks.

I am not talking about hackintosh

I own a PC and a mac

The reason I originally posted about installing mac osx on windows was because I was interested if this was possible. I would buy a legal copy of mac osx.

Many thanks for your help

Even if it was a legal copy of OS X, that factor is irrelevant. OS X cannot be installed on anything but Mac hardware.

So you own a Mac and yet have no idea about software updates? How odd.

As was pointed out above; you can buy as many copies of OS X as you like, you still won't be licensed to run it on a hackintosh.

I just found out my version of mac is 10.4.8, can I press the auto update and will it for free download 10.5.5 Leopard?

No, you have Tiger currently, you will have to pay to get Leopard, about £85 I think. That will get you to 10.5.4 then you will have to update to 10.5.5 and any other subsequent Leopard updates.
