What's the most recommended Steering wheel for VR racing.

VR or not does not matter, i would say ANY wheel is 100x better than no wheel so then it comes down to how serious you want to take it.

my wheel was top of the pile back in the day but its considered positively ancient now.... its still perfect for me however.

Fanatec GT2 with clubsport pedals................. (with PC, PS3 and xbox 360 support - giving you some idea of its age :D )

if anything arguably it is the pedals which are more important, because a load cell feels significantly better than a normal pedal for the brakes.

As the title says really. I'm looking to try my hand at VR racing for the winter and wanted to ask what's everyone's steering wheel of choice?

Thank you!
Direct Drive units are far and away superior to belt and gear ones - the hype is real.

But since you don't even know if you enjoy the hobby, it's really hard to recommend anything at all beyond a basic gamepad.

It would take weeks of research before you can even begin to decide what you'd want to do if you really wanted to get into it. Fanatec, Moza, VRS, asetek, simicube, etc, all these companies make great DD wheelbases. Even thrustmaster and logitech have good ones. I actually own the logitech one, though I wouldn't recommend it until they stop dragging their feet on bringing out other wheels.

For example, a logitech or thrustmaster geared wheelbase makes like 2 NM of torque, my middle-of-the-pack logitech DD makes 11, while being near silent, and offering MUCH better quality FFB.

For the record, with a good sim(ac) loaded up, and a DD wheelbase, and a good pedal set, with all assists turned off, I firmly believe you're actually essentially driving an F1 car(or whatever car you have loaded). Lando Norris actually said the sim versions are a bit harder to keep the back end in line, but these guys make hiring decisions helped partly by their sim data. Verstappen and Piastri are seen on iracing all the time.

And speaking of pedals, that's another ecosystem altogether. And the rig. I bought a 250 buck simple steel rig and threw a seat from a '06 nissan maxima onto it, but people usually use much more extravagant rigs - 10 pounds of torque will demolish ikea desks, but people go overboard with those 1500$ frames imo

IDK
