What's the most you've spent on a game?

I used to play Shot Online and was pretty good at it but the cost of having the best equipment meant spending on it and in the 2 years I played it, I reckon I spent over 3 grand.

About £300 on Star Citizen
About £100 on Hearthstone
About £100 on GW2

Today i spent £20 on Grey Goo, first time i've bought a game in ages as there has been nothing i've wanted.

I was subbed to Star Wars Galaxies for a few years, also bought the Collector's Edition off ebay for quite a lot... Gotta be at least £300 in total.

Then there was £120 for The Old Republic's CE... Only to see it come down into the bargain bin a few weeks later

Never again.
unless a new Star Wars MMO comes out hehehe

Some have spent close to that on their own. Probably more.

Yeah know a couple of people who have thrown 5 figure sums (so far) at SC :| that said I did throw a fair bit at Elite and have barely even played it - though quite a big reason for doing it was due to how much fun I had with the original game and its nice to see a game made with real passion for what they are doing. Might get into it at some point but don't have a proper controller setup or much time for that kind of game atm.

About £500 on World of tanks
Premium account, premium tanks and the odd gold purchase

Never really added it up before, been playing for about 2 years

£60 on pre ordering BF4 and premium. I will never pre-order another game ever again nor have I bought any AAA released since, it burned me that bad.

Gotta say, I got my money's worth out of both. Besides it was better than blowing it on the ponies.:D

I just spent £40 on a pay to win android game and was cursing myself, but it got me thinking.

I played Everquest for 11 years, most of that time I had 6 accounts, expansions were £240 a year and subs £720.

Probably £5,000 total, minus the breaks I had.

EverQuest, by a long, long way ;)

Played since 2000 to a few years ago, with a gap of a few years when Gates arrived (Gates sucked :p).

Like you said, sub was £10 pm, expansions were at least £20. I only ran one account tho until the end, and didn't buy anything from the RL money shop they introduced.

But then these new micro-transactions games (apparently) make our spending on MMO subs seem small fry :p

That was 2009? do we know how much he actually made from that deal?

From what i can make out. Some guy re-mortgaged his real house and bought some highly sort after in game land for 100k. He then built a venue/club on there which became a central hub for socialising and trading. This had it's own exchange rate and he would take a cut of the profits from every trade/purchase.

He was making 200k a year from it but then split up the land venue/club and sold it off in chunks. The most expensive part going for 330k and when it all sold it totalled 635k.

So 100k investment and 635k return from a bloody game. Not bad.

To think i get excited if a sell a steam card for a quid.
