As title really, what's the nvidia equivalent of a 7850?

I have a sapphire hd 7850 2GB oc edition, I'm after a new monitor and with the current 3D monitor offers I'm thinking if I get one I'm going to need a nvidia card to make full use of it, it would make sense to buy the monitor now and just enjoy the 120hz 1080p goodness with my current card, then get a new card when I can afford it/it's on offer!

In an ideal world I'd be upgrading when I get a new card, but definitely don't want to be downgrading, so if I know what the equivalent card is I'll work from there with what I'd be looking for and how much I'm going to need.

Hmmm, not as badly priced as I was expecting!

How does the numbering work? Is it as straight forward as the 670 is one up from the 660?

So when new cards come out will they be 7xx and the 760 will be the replacement for the 660? By the time I get a new card there will probably be new cards!

Look at bench marks, the 650ti boosts scores equally as good, it actually has better FPS in some games.

So a 660 is the model equivalent but also performs better than the 7850?

I think my next card is going to be along the lines of a 670, they'll be cheaper by the time I'm in the market for one I would have thought, saying that, by then there might be better options for my price range.

Whatever card you upgrade to, the absolute minimum card should be a 670 as you will need that grunt to drive 3D@60FPS (120 FPS total).

Try this site for comparison performance of graphics cards.

http://www.hwcompare.com/12546/geforce-gtx-670-vs-radeon-hd-6970/

Just enter the cards you wish to compare at the top of the page.

That site is decent as just a guide but it gives no indication of performance relative to each other as AMD Stream Processors ≠ nVidia CUDA cores. Even Stream Processors/CUDA Cores from different generations are different so ithe site is only really good for comparing same generation cards based off the same chip e.g. 7950 to 7970GE.

There not :) it has not changed in nearly 2 years, its completely defunct.

Well obviously benchmarks for cards like the 7970 ghz ed and titan are not 2 years old.

Where I totally agree that it is not an up to date comparison of the latest performance from either side due to driver updates it still give a rough estimation of performance between lots of different cards.
