What is the oldest component in your current rig and why are you still using it?

Mine is an 18GB Seagate hard drive from 1999. It's a bootable drive for Windows '98. I keep it because I have an ancient scanner which I use very infrequently, but I can't find any working drivers for the scanner for OS's later than Windows '98.

The rest of the drive space is used for general data storage.

One of my hard drives, from 2005 I think.

Why because its 250Gb of sound storage space. :)

a 1.44mb floppy drive from circa 1990

Unless you count my "for posterity" surge protector, which I bought when I had a 286. Thats well old.

Yesterday the onboard LAN died and I put a PCI/Ethernet card in that dates from 1998 and it worked perfectly.
I new my box of old bits would come in handy one day.

Audigy 2 and my DVD drives, both of which are IDE. Can't be bothered to upgrade them yet, may as well wait until I build a completely new system later this year.
