Overclocked dual socket Xeons are being used in High Frequency Trading.
Money's no object to those boys and girls, or rather the cost of replacing CPUs every 30 days is massively out-weighed by how much extra profit you get from being able to trade faster than the competition.

actually they are unlikely to be overclocked as rock-steady reliability is more important to them than anything (imagine a machine going down in the middle of the day - their market "position" can be wiped out very quickly)
Ive worked on trade-floors, from an IT perspective it can be a nightmare
