Hi so i am looking for a 500Gb drive and wondered what is the recommended one at the moment(was going for a 970 evo plus)but thought to ask first, will be used for os and programs with a separate drive for storage and games ?
Thanks

the new wd black nvme is also a good one, check some benchmarks online and compare prices and you'll know whats worth getting

A lot cheaper it appears
Yeah, I've got a 960GB on the way. It has the best performance of all the MP510 capacities and compares well with the 970 Evo Plus. Especially when it is £57 cheaper.

Corsair MP510 960GB
Sequential Read: 3480 MB/s
Sequential Write: 3000 MB/s
Random Read: 610K IOPS
Random Write: 570K IOPS
Write Endurance: 1700 TB

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB
Sequential Read: 3500 MB/s
Sequential Write: 3300 MB/s
Random Read: 600k IOPS
Random Write: 550K IOPS
Write Endurance: 1200 TB

hows about the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro?
The read speed is similar to the above drives, but the write speed and IOPS is lower (although you probably wouldn't notice outside of a benchmark). Most concerning though is the write endurance which is less than half that of the other brands. So not worth it over the MP510 unless you find a really good price.

Thanks all, I think it will be a 250 Gb corsair as a boot drive as I just got a crucial mx500 1Tbq as a main drive and moved my 500GB Ed black as a storage drive, unless a deal pops up for another make

It is amazing how far price and performance has come in these. I bought my first SSD 10 years ago and both capacity and performance have seen a tenfold increase for the same price point.

Crucial M225 64GB
Sequential Read: 200 MB/s
Sequential Write: 150 MB/s
Cost: £103 (would be £131 now with inflation)

just to update went for the corsair in the end as im not a heavy gamer and just getting back into pc's and under £60 delivered that will do me for now

The only thing significantly better than the MP510 is the 970 Pro, but that is almost twice the cost. Even then the Pro only has the advantage when writing large (>30GB) files. The MP510 still has the better endurance warranty.

For anyone wondering about the SX8200 Pro, I got mine today and results are good, Q32T1 3276 R / 2939 W. 1TB drive. I think all these 'new' m.2 drives are pretty decent, went for this as it was in stock and a good price.

I'm looking for a non- nvme 1tb m.2 drive for my games library. Also looking at the crucial mx500? Is there any better options out there regarding performance/value? Looking to spend 100-150 ideally. Thanks
