Whats the slowest thing you have been in!?

Slowest car i have been in and driven I think has to be a friends 1ltr metro it was absolutely and utterly **** took a monumental amount of revs to get it going and it was as slow as anything.

Ford Transit 1988 2.5D

Holy hell that thing was slow, and it drank diesel!

Still, enabled me to move house for free.

Probably the same as you. The normaly aspirated diesel trannys realy are gutless slugs, it only needs a tiny incline and you are struggling to hold 50mph.

Fiat 500... At times I was sure it was quicker to cycle! :D However it certainly had "character" ;)

Edit: Oh and a 2CV "Speciale"

Daf 33 with one broken rubber band. The Daf had a "variomatic" gearbox, for which read a much older version of CVT. Instead of a steel belt, used a BIG rubber band. The one my mother owned had one broken one for half the time she owned it, before my father realised.
Still, even at it's best it was a wheezing heap.
I remember them Variomatic Dafs. My cousin had the Volvo 343 I think it was with the Variomatic box. That wasn't too bad though as I think it had a half decent engine in it. :)

Possibly works Berlingo 1.9D (citroen engine, no the peugeot lump).
Engine's the same isn't it? Made by Citroen and Peugeot (joint venture between the two). Unless it's a late one with the Hdi?

Slowest thing i've been in is possibly an old Merc diesel van, although it was alright once it was going. :)

Again a 2CV we actually went down to third gear for one hill :D

and the temperatures were much like it is now and the windows were freezing on the inside ???!!!

My mates dads RAC jeep. Landrover Discover with a load of repair equipment etc in *** back and one of those metal towbar things. A very heavy vehicle. Cant remeber the engine size but it was summit like a 4ltr oil burner, and my god it was slow, but it was cool sitting in the back on a toolbox in *** dark, kinda liek having you owm little den on wheels.

mk1 Fester, 900cc(?) Popular plus in dark brown with an off-mustard yellow bonnet.

I was sitting in the passenger footwell, my grandad was driving and there were six others in the car.

From Berwick to Scarbrough.

Man, that was FUN!

I've driven plenty of aggravatingly slow cars -

1976 Corolla 1.2, rear wheel drive, couldn't even get the tail out in the wet, on near bald tyres. stabbing at the clutch
1994 Astra 1.4 8v,
2002 Smart car of some sort, from EasyCar

All about as slow as each other, but I think the Smart was slowest.

Slowest i've driven was the 1.4hdi 206 i learnt in. Just did not enjoy going faster than 40! Passenger? In a seicento with 3 others plus driver!! Hilarity ensues when we attacked a hill.
