what regt you joining anksy, i start recruit training for marines in 7 weeks :D

my best run time in 1.5 mile was 8.55 and time at lympstone was 9.17 need to start trainig properly but i am not a very fit person, 1.5mile / 3 miler seems to be a lot of mental strength in addition to some fitness.

person who came first in run in my prmc was 16stone 6'1 and a big upperbody imo lot of people bring in body mass as an excuse

Not cannon fodder, the army wont throw your life away, force protection is a priority.

Back on training, the BPFA shouldn't be a concern, stay focused and work hard for 10 mins and its done. There's a huge amount of other tests that you need to pass too, you might find that if you struggle a bit with one thing theres another subject that you shine at that may mitigate a few shortfalls.

If you are in your early 20s you should be aiming for 8.30 to 9.00, which once you get your fitness up to speed is not that hard. Anything faster than that will leave you open to upper and lower body weakness. Get you running speed up first then work for strengh in upper and lower body. Keep your running between 8.30 and 9.00.

Dude under 10 minutes is considerably harsh for someone who has said they are unfit even if they are in their early 20's. Amateur athletes aim for 7 minutes.

The first few times he should run he should do it in under 20 minutes. After that knock it down to 15 and then on to ten. Anything under 10 is fine. When starting to run take it slow, otherwise you wear yourself out and become discouraged.

Nice.....

Nope you are cannon fodder :p

Thanks for going in though, I have pride in the army even if your own politicians don't

WTF? 20 minutes, id be mortally embarrassed if i did it in that time!!!!! Get under 10 minutes as a starting block. Anything higher than 10:30 and you KNOW your unfit. Its also called a PFT not a BPFA these days. It is however a basic fitness assessment.

Dude its only 1.5 miles and I was only pointing out what he should be aiming for. If he was to get discouraged over the timing over such a short distance and time frame he should just forget it to start with.

Amateur athletes aim for 7 minutes and give up a lot of strenght to meet that time. What you are over looking is that its a basic fitness test, that has very little to do with what soldiers do. What soldiers do can't be timed or measured when it realy matters even in training, you should not be aiming to just pass the fitness test you should aim to pass the tests with ease. 20 minute ZzzzZzzzZzzz
