Whats this I hear that 90ti does not support DX12?

I doubt that. they'll just be new and out perform a Titan X. Only a very small % really buy the highest top end. No way am I paying £1200 or more for Titan Pascal. I'll go middle of the road this time around. GTX 1080 or what ever they call it will suit me and my 1440p g-sync.

Ohh mate i'm not arguing that, the 980Ti is a montster especially with the right cooling capabilities. But from a 980 to a 980Ti isn't a massive jump tbh and with next gen cards around the corner on a newer node and on a newer memory architecture i'm expecting good things, or atleast better.

You made out you made the jump based on DX12. Your 980 was just as much DX12 capable as the 980Ti is. It will come down to raw grunt more than bloomin DX12 features trust me, as this new API removes the big cpu overhead meaning your more GPU bound. So grunt is more important. I would have saved my money and invested in the next big card from nVidia or AMD.

Also this isn't a Fury vs 980Ti debate above so don't take this thread that way please...

Gambling on what "might" happen in the future is a waste of time and money. Once there's a few DX12 games out that your card doesn't support features on that you want to play, that's the time to upgrade.

Luckily, once that time comes there'll be a ton of reviews and performance tests so you know which card to upgrade to.

As with it's predecessors DX12 has lots of optional stuff, lots of bits with variable levels of support etc. Current gen cards will run DX12 but no card currently supports every possible option for DX12. This will likely remain the case when new cards come along to be honest, took a long time to get 'full' DX11 support (did we ever get there? Stopped paying attention as it was so irrelevant).

I should probably make some analogy about cars and cup holders or something now :D

I have no doubt that 900 series and above will run DX12 games just fine. All others will struggle a bit I guess.
