Just noticed these attached to my alloys, never seen them before, any idea what they are ? Something used for wheel balancing ?

Wheel weight lol.

Also I really hate how some tyre/wheel fitters hold no regard for aesthetics when putting them on, they just bung em anywhere and usually in the most obvious spaces!

Phew, good to hear my suspicions were correct, never ever seen them before so started thinking it was some crappy alloy repair job covering cracks or something :p I still have a lot to learn .... thanks guys :)

If it is a good tyre fitter, they will find where the weights need to go, then move the rubber then check again. Until they can place the weights behind a spoke.

My annoyance is (and I've had this on all my tyre changes, bike and car), they don't get rid of the old glue, it looks AWFUL!

So where would you like them to put them then?

Surely they have to stick them in the place specified by the balancing machine?

When I bought it, the guy (who was selling it for someone else) mentioned the alloys were immaculate, meaning they could be refurbished but wasn't sure. Not sure what to make of that ....

Exactly, the imbalance isn't just down to the wheel and they can improve things by changing the position of the tyre. It always annoys me when they don't align the dot on the sidewall with the valve and then use a load of weights.
