Whats Vista like for games?

Just moved from Nvidia to ATI and was wondering what's Vista like for games these days, everything run smooth etc?

Fear, HL2, Prey, Pes 6, NOLF2, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Stalker all run great with Vista.

Have you got an ATI card?

I tried Vista and PES6 on here a few months back and it ran all choppy etc, that's was with an Nvidia card though.

nVidia BFG 7800 GTX OC, plays great except for the v-sync issue (you cannot force it on with Vista and there is no in game option to turn it on).

bit of instability with vista64 on some games. random crashes etc. other than that its not tooo shabby but could be better.

ATI drivers are much better then Nvidia drivers, for now..

One of the major things putting me off is v-sync, you can't enable v-sync in any D3D games unless the game has the option, i can't stand tearing, anyone know if that has been fixed yet, or will be fixed, me trying Vista is a long way of yet like, but would be nice to know that they can sort this issue beforehand.

Thats been fixed for a while now Loadsa

Well Nvidia drivers allow it now, not sure about Ati

Radeon 1900XT here, no problems in any games I've tried so far - Hitman Contracts, Blood Money, The GRAW2 and Tomb Raider Anniversary demos. All ran very well.

It's still broken for Pes 6 (Pretty sure that's the case, It definitely wont work for me, using the latest Betas: 162.22).

I've got almost everything to run in Vista. Only one demo didn't and there was a Vista patch for the full game. Games run a bit slower apparently.

Only very old 16 bit games will be a problem due to no legacy 16 bit support in 64 bit OS.
