What's with all the suspensions?

Not always it seems.....It appears totally dependent on the personal affectations of the moderator rather than the application of the rules themselves and their is a distinct difference from questioning someone's morality with specific justifications explained and some of the comments that were (and are) bandied about.

Appearances can be deceptive.

Still baffles me why people are always surprised or outraged that the forums are not run as a democracy. This is one of the better moderated forums I have seen but it will never be perfect. Very rarely is a mods decision reversed and usually a mods word is final. That's how it was when you signed up thats how it will always be.

People who should know better have been pushing the boundaries of what is suitable for a family friendly forum and have been punished for it. That thread was full of pople attempting to bend the rules and make witty comments about a fankly awful situation. There is point arguing about it.

Actually, decisions Dons make are regulary discussed and debated. We get it wrong sometimes and decsions are sometimes reversed. We're all human after all. Well apart from Gillbot.

IMO the Dons do a great job in keeping this forum way above other forums that are full of swearing, trolling and just insult-fests.

This is true however some members seem to avoid being permabanned because of favoritism and what not. It's not the first time people in that list have made vile comments whereas others have been banned for more mild offences (in my opinion). Part of the reason I was a lurker for years is because a lot of threads just turn to crap after page 1 with sarcastic memes then insults when someone doesn't agree with their opinion.

When it actually matters to me that much I have and will. However that doesn't alter the point being made either.

Your point being that no action has been taken on posts you believed required some form of action?

If you've discussed it with a Mod then presumably they've decided that what you've reported doesn't need any action because it doesn't break any forum rules.

The point being that the rules are not always applied without prejudice. Specific examples are immaterial.
