Just heard on the news that the Yellow Snow warning has been upgraded to Amber. I think we all know about yellow snow, but what the hell is Amber?

yellow is low warning, amber is basically it's either more likely, or likely to be a bit worse.

Red is when you start looking for your snow shovel and get out the sleds.

Amber is closer to red, but allows the manager not to have to spend money on mitigation, and then blame whoever updated the risks for being unclear when it all goes horribly wrong.

I read an article and it kept say "British" "Britain" prepare for the new ice age, then on the prognosis maps it was just Scotland....
Is it not politically correct to call Scottish people Brits?

I think quite a lot of people thinks Britain stops above the Thames and the rest of us are just wild folk of the North.

E: That'll be us with the viking genes and not those with snooty French ones :)

It's clickbait.

Amber warnings for snow, blizzards, -20C, A&E overload - does not compute.
Amber warnings for 40C heatwaves, however, is guaranteed.

Greta dictates the weather.

Highlands aside I'll be surprised if anywhere gets any substantial amounts of snow - the forecast over the next few days is very dry as well as cold. Though there is a fair chance of sporadic snow showers country wide some of which may be heavy.
