What's with this 9600GT?

Hey, I've been away from here a little while and just ran into this 9600GT available on OcUK for around £130?

The stats seem to outperform the top 8 series cards though?

What's up with this card?! Why is it so cheap, what's it for, what's the catch?

Its not really faster than the 8800 series and its not especially good at higher resolutions.
It also performs 25% faster on select Nvidia boards that have LinkBoost (so be wary of reviews done on Nvidia boards as they may not apply to you unless you also have a motherboard that supports that feature).
Its slower than the similar priced HD3870

It is possible to manually overclock the 9600gt to similar levels on intel boards by using rivatuner etc. (or now by changing the pci-e speed).

They actually start from £109 Inc. VAT on OcUK!

They are good performers, not quite as quick as the 8800 GT which OcUK now does for £129 Inc. VAT, but not far off.

Its not as restricted as the 8600 but I doubt its beating the rest of the 8 series or nvidia has messed up
