What's wrong? New build won't start

OK, finally got round to installing the CPU today and went to start the new rig for the first time.

I have the green light on the mobo to indicate power but nothing happens when I press the power button on the front of the case.

I have tested the PSU by connecting the green wire to a black wire and powering a molex fan so the PSU has not gone.

The mobo is brand new and if the green power led is glowing, surely the mobo is fine?

I need help guys. It's my first build and I've pumped the cash into it.

Nothing at all happens? no beeps, no fans spinning up?

Have the headers for the power button on the case been connected to the mobo properly?

Sounds like the power jumpers are not connected properly.

double and triple check them, try reseating them,

make sure that everything is connected properly.

Try taking everything out expect PSU, CPU, Memory and GFX.

Personally I would check all your connections to the mobo. i would also check that memory and also assicated devices are connected properly and are secure. let us know what mobo etc you have.

It seems to be a faulty button. You're right.

I tried the front panel of an old case and it's working.

Where could I get a replacement button?

Is the case new? must come under warranty if it is, get a new one.

If your comfortable enough you could check the connections of the button and bodge it?

i doubt anywhere sells the button itself

It's new, yeah, but bought from a certain auction site.

Have emailed NZXT customer service and requested either a replacement button or a replacement front panel.

Chances they will send either are slim. :p

At least I know now it isn't a major issue.

Seems like a lot of bother though just for a faulty button :p

Nah, if you buy something and it doesnt work in anyway then you aren't getting what you paid for :)

fair enough if it was second hand, but if its new... well then you expect it to be working and fresh out of the factory :)

Suppose so. I'll wait till NZXT get back to me before I decide what I'll do.

Cheers for the help people. :)

The button from you old case will probbay fit. The button itself usually very similar if not the same. It's just the plastic housing around it that is diffrent.

In the mean time connect the reset button up to the power on pins. Use that for the mean time.

Hmmm. Makes sense.

Will the reset button work OK as a power button?

EDIT: Yes, yes it does. :)

Thanks man.
