What's wrong with IE? Well almost everything really! :)

.
Hehe i was gonna say, whats right with it!?

to be honest if i were you i would get firefox. its better than IE by a long shot.

ok first some questions
1) is your homepage set up to about.blank? or has it just come up like that for no aparent reason?
2) have you got the latest version and latest updates?
3) Does any one else use the computer apart from you?
4) have you got any spyware/adware detectors, virus scanners and other security on your computer?

Got and have been using Firefox for years, but I occasionally use IE.

1. Nope
2. Yep
3. Nope
4. 6 spyware programs, scanned with every single one a few days ago.

--Edit--
Re-installed IE7 Beta 3 & it's still doing the same thing :(

Thanks,
Craig.

Real long shot this but you dont have a web proxy set up or anything do you? Have a look in Tools, Connections, LAN settings and untick anything thats ticked in there and give it another try.

I admit it's annoying even if you dont actually use IE for browsing, as it's still needed by Windows Update and its slightly alarming if something hooked into the OS as IE is is misbehaving.

Also the fixes on http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_ie6.htm and
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q318378 might be useful, and apparently issuing the command:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf

Will reinstall it

Do yourself a great big favour and use Opera 9 :)

do yourself an even bigger favour and ignore what he said :P

nah just joking willhub. i have that installed on my pc too. its useful if you wanna check websites work on all explorers and such

Lol, some stuff Opera 9 displays correctly, neither FireFox or IE displays correctly, i like the way you can leave all you tabs open, exit Opera then shut down your comp, next day come back to comp open Opera and all your tabs are open right were they are, saves a lot of time, i keep FireFox and IE just incase Opera cant display somthing.

I do sometimes, I do not use IE for normal browsing. I'm happy with Mozilla but just really don't like the fact that something might have messed with IE.

Okay, thanks I'll give that a go :)

Also, nothing was ticked in the LAN settings so no problems there. It seemed to be all of a sudden when I booted up one day :(

Reinstalling didn't work
