What's wrong with Internet Explorer? (serious thread)

IE8 is the most secure browser...period. The only advantage that firefox has over it is the addons. And addons are quite vulnerable...

But then again there is this general 'hate' towards products made my microsoft. Siverlight for example runs circles around adobe flash and you see people posting things like "i will never let silverlight near my pc"

Silverlight seems to have a pretty seamless integration, meaning that you don't really notice. Plus the fact that its a windows update means that most people have it without even noticing.

IE6 gave it a bad name and i really didn't like it. IE7 was a massive step in the right dirction and IE8 is really quite good now.

I tried Chrome the other day is it was terribly slow compared to IE8, so i went back to it.

Looking forward to IE9

IE has excellent support for extensions. It's extensions support pre-dates Firefox and Chrome entirely. The problem is that nobody seems to create any decent freely available extensions for IE. I have no idea why this is the case considering it is the most popular browser.

Probably because BHO's are harder to write than slapping some ram shackle JS into a fie :P

Pretty sure it's an optional update. So not many will have it without knowing.
