Whats wrong with my 5770?

So i recently got my computer together and went on cod4 to play, i was expecting to max out all the settings but i cant for some reason. Does anyone know why this could be?

It depends on the rest of the system (cpu, ram,hdd), is your OS fragmented or full of spyware/viruses, is your psu good enough, are you running something intensive in the background? Poor drivers?

There is a lot more to a poor framerate than 'what's wrong with my 5770'.

Unintsall drivers and reinstall, make sure all settings in the CCC are set to app controlled. What exactly is the problem? what kind of fps are you getting.

In what sense do you mean max out? Do you mean all settings maxed with a playable framerate or all settings maxed out with like 80+ fps.

Overclocked or not an i3 setup couple with a 5770 should achieve very playable framerates, just don't expect anything spectacular.

EDIT: just seen your res. At that res you're more cpu limited but I'd just try uninstalling your gfx drivers, use a driver sweeper app and reinstall the latest just to cover any driver issues

Yeah, its fine i was just wondering if i could max out the details and textures ECT but id rather play with a solid frame rate and not so good textures i suppose, thanks anyway guys.

Some settings only go as high as normal/med in COD, this is with any setup.

My 5770 can max it out playing on a 1280 * 1024 res @ around 80 fps.

I have an i5 quad core though.

you should be getting ~100fps though at max settings, are you using CAT 10.6?

I'd try overclocking your i3 if you're confortable doing that and have a good cooler. They overclock VERY well indeed and at that res it should help provide a steadier framerate

It's worth a try if nothing else as you can always revert back to stock.

I can max it out at 1280 x 1024 on my trusty 9500gt.. something is definitely effecting your performance.

Surely at that res, the bottleneck would be the CPU? What is the other specs of your system?

K, ill guess i will try overclocking soon then, i have a good cooler anyway its the Artic cooler pro 7.

Also, if i wanted to overclock GPU would i need to get it to a cooler temp, because it wont let me atm and its running at 40C
