Whats wrong with my PC? New card, worse problems!

Sorry , just checked mine, Yeah it's running at ver 1.1 on yours, I would have thought it should be 2.0, I don't think it will be so much the bandwidth issue but it does look like the two are not quite as they should be.

Might be worth trying a couple of games now you have the latest drivers and bios before we look further.

I already did try games. Divinity dropping below 22 FPS average 35! My GTX 285 can do better then that lol.

I clicked the ? and it changed to 2.0? Its the power saving thing on the card that changes this, so it does run at 2.0 when gaming.

I thought that was the problem for a second :(

Btw thanks for the help guys this is doing my head in! If i cant fix by friday ill RMA and just wait until i buy a full new PC!

I think you card is working, the only thing I can think of now is to underclock the card 200mhz and see if the games get worse .

What Cpu are you running ?

click the ? next to pcie in gpu-z and run render,it will clock to pcie 2 speeds then,1.1 is the idle pcie speed

EDIT nvm you found it

heres mine on a pcie3 z77

Im running a Q9450 was at 3.2 then 2.8 and now 2.6. The fps doesnt change at all from default to OC 3.2 so i cant see it being a CPU problem.

Ill underclock the card now and see if it gets worse.

Also is it normal for Catalyst to take forever to pop up? I mean Nvidia control panel is instant? I thought it would have gotten better since i last had an AMD card back in the x800 series lol.

EDIT.

Just underclocked it to 700mhz the difference is 3 fps would that be right? Because i dont think it is.

You should be ok with that cpu, Yeah i'm still wondering how ATI came up with these new stonking drivers when they have trouble with lots of simple things they should have sorted years ago ;)

I tried shogun 2 and on the historic battles it drops is FPS really bad!

Yeah i have Vsync on but i always have it on and with the GTX 285 it never got stupid low fps like 25?

I dont have it enabled on shogun 2 however and that still gets low fps and its not even running at max settings, this is whats getting me, even on lower settings the fps is very minimal difference.

Yeah it seems like the cards not pushing itself.

Now back to 12.11

Just tested again Vsync doesnt make a difference in game, but on menus it goes up to 200fps. I dunno if the 12.11 drivers made it worse or Vsync off, but i just got 18 fps lowest and average is lower then 30 now!

GOD! this is dumb, i also been reading BF3 fps for my card and average high settings 1920x1080 is 54fps+ at stock clocks, i dont get this.

Anyone got anything else i can try?

the marks you have on your card in the second picture! i have this all over my hd 7970, but i have no problems with my card. but kinda wondering what the hell they are! i did buy my card second hand tho.

Maybe some background task / poor driver is causing it to slow down? Plenty of poorly written stuff around. Can you leave Taskman (or better yet Process Explorer) nad Afterburner running in the background while running a game / benchmark?

Obviously better if you had a 2nd monitor so could watch the graphs in real time.

It's just residue from the wash after the boards are acid etched in production....won't hurt anything just sloppy process control.

Well it it's not using 100% of the GPU something must be holding it back. Afterburner cannot display CPU usage (maybe there's a plug in?), but having taskman / process explorer drawing its graph while the game runs might be informative
