No. Skate shoes evolved from running shoes, bmx evolved from them as well as climbing shoes.

I wear skater shoes every day, far more comfortable than normal trainers and much tougher plus I prefer the way they look.

Dude, did you see the damage to those benches in the middle of town when they were first put there?

Concrete (IIRC) benches etc with huge chunks missing because of people grinding along them.

Yep.

Being totally fair most of the damage to concrete walls is done by BMXers, it's the weight of them - and if you hop up to a wall and miss it your peg can take a good chunk from the side of the wall.
 
I don't mind skaters at all and I find generally they are quite a cool bunch of laid back lads. It's not normally the skateboard crowd who you see happy slapping and sitting in the bus station drinking cider harassing people.

They may do a tiny amount of cosmetic damage to certain structures but from what I have seen it's very minimal. I have no problem at all with a person who can obtain hours of fun from a small wall or a hand rail.

I really think people should live and let live and I always respect people who make the effort to get out there and take their sport or hobby seriously and progress at it through hard work and determination to reap the rewards.

Maybe if people stopped complaining about minor issues like this we wouldn’t have a generation of fat kids who sit on the sofa all day playing Xbox.

I never see many BMXers in town though tbh. I know you get the civic lot hanging around. When the shops close in town it seems to get over run with goth and chavs.
 
I dont have a problem with them.

But i spose when they are skating, they are smashing up the concrete and making noise.

Some people are funny buggers!

They do ride there at night sometimes but mostly stick to Victoria Avenue afaik, we did anyways, lots of riding to be done there.
 
Have you all lost the plot or something? In case you need a reality check, you're bickering over whether skate shoes or trainers are 'best'. Surely it's all down to personal preference?

I wear skate shoes for everyday use as I find them much more comfortable. I don't do any athletics during the day so they do me fine. If I'm going to the gym or doing anything athletic I'll wear my trainers. If I'm getting dressed properly at all I'll wear smart shoes.

What's the issue? Why do you care if someone likes skate shoes more than trainers? Chill out :p

You get a lot of the skaters down westcliff sea front (behind chalkwell park area) at night too.
 
skaters are worse than chavs, thats what's wrong 'wiv' skaters. Chavs don't affect me, they generally keep themselves to themselves. Skaters are rude, take up space, they ruin the surroundings and have attitude problems, all in my experience.

What planet are you living on? I've never had a skater try to mug me at knife point. I've had at least two chavs pull knives on me.

I think large groups of young people have attitude problems, it doesn't matter what subculture they are.
