hey guys,

Just today I was thinking, my pc apart from waiting for vega, is running great.

Put it to sleep last night, come home 15mins ago, pressed keyboard, pic fires up, no keyboard or mouse input, no signal from monitor. See through grill the motherboard leds (apart from wraith spire) are off..

So I press the power button, it turns off, and when I press the power button it clicks once then nothing...

I also switched off at the psu and when back on the keyboard illuminates like it should..but pressing the power button results the same click then nothing?

Could this be the motherboard?

My specs :

R7 1700
16gb corsair lpx ram
280 Radeon gpu
Gigabyte gaming 3 x370 mono
128 ssd
2tb hd

Any help appreciated guys.l

No worries bud - understandable - i know how frustrating this type of problem is especially with such a recent build.

It could be motherboard related but could equally be something else.

Ideally, if you can get your hands on a different PSU that would be a great component to eliminate.

Otherwise, I would run through some of the basics checks first in the hope that one works or at least rule them out:
  • Double/triple check all your connections and hardware is seated properly - ideally remove and reseat all of them - including SATA leads etc...
  • Check the kettle lead is securely fitted into the back of the PSU - sometimes gets overlooked.
  • If using an extension lead try plugging PC directly into the wall socket - or a different extension lead if this isn't possible.
  • Clear the CMOS
  • Try a skeleton setup - 1 stick memory in alternate slots, cpu, gfx card and nothing else. See if it boots.
  • Check motherboard is securely fitted - no movement.
  • Remove front panel leads and short the pins to see if it starts.
If all the above fails you may have to consider trying a skeleton setup outside of the case.

Hi mate, thanks for the swift replies, first thing I tried was making sure the kettle lead was in securely, and problem a stupid thing was...

I was using a cheap 4way wall adaptor, soon as I plugged the pic straight into the wall socket, it booted up fine..my mistake I won't be cheaping out again on these. Now time for a new one...does it sound reasonable that a ***** plug adaptor could have been a big factor?

Ordering a surge protected-3000w load one right now..

The pain is that where my pc is located is only got one socket, whereas most around the flat are doubles :mad:

Just my luck!

More ******* problems...

I just changed to a reliable socket wall Adaptor, booted pc and running fine..

I then put to sleep for 15mins to make sure all was well..well, was it ****!

Pressed keyboard, all booted up, but no signal from monitor, and no keyboard/mouse response...

I tried all ports on gpu, unplugged keyboard, tried a different keyboard via USB, nothing..

What do you guys think? An intermittent motherboard issue?

Not to mention the voltage issue I'm having (listed in mobo section)!

The forum member updated his GFX driver and to date his system has settled - but i would also do the chipset drivers etc too (Did you download them from AMD directly or did you use the MoBo chipset drivers?)

...and BIOS if not done so already.

Hey Plec buddy..

Yeah, everything is up to date, and all drivers were the latest from the internet, not from the included ones in the box..

Hi Plec, sorry my PC has been out of commission, just got her back up and running (fingers crossed!)..

My issue now seems to be with my GPU :confused:

Its a temp stop gap till VEGA but..

In HARDWARE MONITOR it is a fixed voltage of 0.950v and the temp consistently at 44c, no movement, I have latest drivers all that malarkey, so any input on what to try would be great thanks!!

If you're talking about the GFX card - have you tried MSI AFterburner for monitoring?

HWMonitor can/had have issues with Ryzen - but I thought they were ironed out with recent updates. But you may have a conflict...

Also, what problems are you experiencing specifiaclly?

Thanks for the fast response dude,

yeah the graphics card voltage is fixed at 0.950v and 44c now and again it will jump straight to 1.250v at 50c then straight back to 0.950v??

Tried AB and the temp reading is consistent, for what its worth my CPU is idling nicely at 32c..

Still sounds a bit like a software issue - but at a loss as you've updated.

Have you tried rolling back the GFX card drivers?

Also, perhaps trying a different slot?

I would also look to see if there's a more recent BIOS for your GPU.

Pee'ing in the wind to a degree - but they sometimes pay off.

Will try the GFX drivers, and could my motherboard be an issue?

Also to answer your last question in two, I was off waiting of the new motherboard as im sure it was the culprit for that sleep issue, which so far (only installed the new one today lol) has ben rectified. I just haven t got round to a BIOS update etc yet...could that be a problem you think?

Also, FWIW, I bought the Asus ROG B350-F motherboard.

Very possibly - it's the first thing i do/advise when building a Ryzen system.

CPU, 1 stick, GPU - flash the system with a FAT 32 formatted USB using - EZ Flash(?) as it's ASUS. (i mainly use Gigabyte so use q flash).

Obvioulsy, your system is fully built - so go for it if you believe it's stable.

Perhaps clear CMOS and load optimised defaults before flashing...
