What's your 3 main factors for deciding on your next GPU in 2025?

It's 2025 and just a few days left before we find out what's next.

From the 5090 to all the way down the stack.

As the 90 is only for the few, everyone's needs/budgets are different.

Whether it's AMD/Intel/Nvidia, what's your 3 deciding factors when you are going to press the buy button?

@Armageus can we get a poll please?
"..for deciding on your next GPU in 2025?"

I game at 1440p and grabbed a 4070 Super. So I won't actually be "deciding" on any GPU in 2025. :)

Probably won't be buying a GPU in 2025 regardless of @TNA 's ramblings  - There are no 2025 game releases that I can see that could warrant a GPU higher than a 4090, so there is that. The next Cyberpunk won't be until 2026 at the earliest, and Witcher 4 is still years away. GTA 6? Lol 2027/2028.

Price will be the main factor for me, though amount of VRAM and power consumption (in case it means needing a new PSU) are also factors.

Hoping 5080 will be a significant enough performance increase from 3080 and not priced too high.

Probably price, vram and features (dlss and so on).

I'm cheap and keep my cards for a while, so want sufficient vram. Price, of course I want a card that is good value. Some sort of decent upscaling, will help me keep the card longer, but like it or not more games are using it as a crutch. Even at 1080p, alan wake 2, monster hunter wild, and avatar all are have some sort of upscaling as recommended. Don't have to like it, but it's clearly the way games are going, don't worry about optimising, let upscaling and framegen do the work.

You like new tech too much.

I already explained how it will go. You will find a mug to sell your 4090 to at a high price. Add a few hundred quid and get a 5090.

No brianer really :p

Primarily raster performance, video memory, and price.

This time, when purchasing, it looks like I'll finally have to concede and increase my budget.
Over the last few years, I've held back as long as I can with regard to price.
The 980Ti cost £480 and the 3070 was £470, but this time to make it a worthwhile jump in overall performance and VRAM,
I guess I'm looking for something that's at least in the realm of a 7900XT or 4070Ti Super level of performance, or maybe even higher.

I intend to keep it for a long time, so I guess it makes sense to get as good a product as I can afford at the time.
I don't think I will be going to 4K just yet, so that helps considerably, though I may graduate to an UW panel in the not too distant future.
RT performance, while nice to have, doesn't concern me too highly, though I'll freely admit that I haven't used it much in games. I don't even have Cyberpunk or Alan Wake 2 yet.

Despite their main focus being on the mid-range, at least for now anyway, I am still looking forward to seeing what the next AMD series delivers.
Though, according to the internet, I'm not expecting anything much above ~7900XT level of performance with maybe better efficiency.

It's funny, I don't have any qualms about spending a lot of money on a screen, but tend to hesitate these days when choosing a new GPU.

1. Price/performance ratio
2. Power consumption - if I'm browsing the internet or working a spreadsheet, 35 Watts is excessive. Sorry Intel.
3. Must have future new versions of it's features like DLSS, FSR, XeSS. Sorry Nvidia, you abandon your existing customers.
