When you make websites what do you find is the best program?
Iv been useing macromedia dreamweaver for years now. Works just fine but im starting to feel it lack the power sometimes when you wanna try new things.

In the past I always used Frontpage for a 'quick' mockup and then laid it out and added functionality via Visual Studio.

Now however the mockups are done using Expression and then finalised with said functionality again in Visual Studio.

I use Intype for all my coding needs, Photoshop CS3 for graphics and WAMP for local testing.

I love Intype though it does lack some features that I would really love, like auto code formatting / indenting, and as-you-type completion, but I find programs like Zend Studio a little over bloated.

I tend to use a combination of Notepad++ and SharePoint Designer (not that I recommend SPD, I just have little choice in the matter) these days. For most of my development life (Up until I started this job in fact) I've used vim for everything.

I use Dreamweaver for code and creation, i guess i am doing something wrong!!! I also use XAMPP for an all in one MySQL, Apache, filezilla etc package.

But i rarely dabble in web apps.

Notepad++ is great for coding. Use FileZilla for FTP - don't especially like it, just can't find a better alternative.

notepad++ for PHP/general design or Visual Studio for ASP .NET.
