Spare no details, come on you baguette lovers, my missus was thinking to start making her own batch of Baguettes in her small convenient store to get some of the punters in.

Your help will be strongly be appreciated!

Thanks guys in advance!

Do they come with any sauce or not, sorry for being blunt as sometimes I get put off if there isn't any sort of sauce but that is just me, how about you guys?

Coronation chicken with slices of banana on top (best I've ever had is from Grannie's Kitchen in Alnwick).

Hope she has her food hygiene certificate if they are going to be for sale. :p

My favourite are the chicken, bacon and sweetcorn ones they sell at my local greggs.

(not including independant delis)

What sauce would you add with ham+cheese or tuna+mayo?

These two are just a one off as I don't think you can have any souce on these too.

But a Chicken Salad or a lamb/beef salad wrap you could have mild chilli relish or even sweet chilli sauce, I was thinking of these in particular.

Blimming neck, Pineapple & Banana in the same sentence as baguette, never thought of that or will consider it, unless if major high street vendors are selling a lot of these, what's the others take on it?

So tell me guys of some sort of sauce you would prefer and I will try them out.

Also what are the main baguettes which are the most popular you guys find in a major high street baguette shops and also what sauce would you like in baguettes?

Hope she has her food hygiene certificate if they are going to be for sale. :p

She has worked very hard to obtain these certificates as she really feels strong about it, I am just hoping that it pays off!

Is there a specific baguette you think will taste nice that you can't find anyone doing (pre-made)?

I mean a sauce already added?

I'm presuming sauce is optional - I mean... what if people don't want sauce and you already included it? I'm the kind of person who chooses food based on simplicity, you might have a really nice chicken salad saucy baguette - but with ham and cheese I know what I'm getting. Same with tuna and cucumber, it doesn't matter where you get it from because it's always the same.

It's just one person's viewpoint though - there might be guys who want uber-complex baguettes, I wouldn't know :)

As far as fillings are concerned I have my baguette needs pretty much fulfilled tbh. The only thing that would sway me is the baguette itself.

For instance the ones you get at places like greggs tend to be a bit cold and dry, whereas if you go to a proper deli you get par-baked bagguettes that are then warmed to-order. And the bread itself tends to be better quality.

So forget the fillings, the key to a delicious baguette is the bread itself, in my opinion.

That's some good critique there, thanks.

So what is good tasty baguette in your mind then?

Don't have baguettes that often but when I do it's something along these lines..

Tuna, mayo (not too much mayo) and sweetcorn.
BLT
Cheese and tomato
Flavoured chicken pieces (e.g. bbq, piri piri, etc), salad, sweet chili sauce depending on type of chicken
Sausage and crispy bacon streaks with tomato ketchup/bbq sauce

Edit: As said above, the baguette needs to be really nice. Fresh and soft and not dry.

I have to be honest with you guys, I have stopped eating baguettes (from high street places) for over a year as I found most places to be selling very dry baguettes and my mouth is always aching after too much chewing, don't know if this relates to any of you guys facing such situations as mine?

I like cheaper white baguettes that aren't too crusty and basically tear apart, go into tesco and pick up their ham and cheese and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about :)
