Quake 3 takes #1 spot (I'd also lump Q1/2 in there to)
COD4 and MW2 are both tied for next - despite all the issues with MW2 once you get on a decent host without anyone cheating/exploiting its a blast to play.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Day of Defeat (the original) - DOD:S had absolutely stupid recoil/spread - DOD 1 is probably the game I'm best at.

No others have been as involving as these to me, be it competitive play or just public.
Everything after CoD 4 was/is a disgrace to the brand name.
World at war was only just interesting with the addition of zombies.

Wish more people still played it online though. The amount of time I used to spend on that game is insane.

Loving how many ppl voted this also. The ultimate in online gaming, aim, tactics, positional play, teamwork, skills (conc runs, rslides, concaim) i'm still learning 12yrs on !!

Favourite was Planetside, favourite to be Planetside 2.
Although there have been and there are many good online shooters out there, nothing so far has compared to the amazing battles & mayhem I have seen and experienced in Planetside. I used to play it with a good friend of mine, we became a very skilled mag rider team. Back in the early days (before the BFRs thank god) the mag mower was way too overpowered. I remember having a @4 hour session with my mate in the mag rider, we only died once in @4hours and our stats showed that I had a 201:1 kill ratio and he had 232:1 ratio. We both played and finished most sessions with a big smile on our faces, that game was seriously satisfying as an online shooter!

Warrock (Was good in Beta,They got too greedy with the buyable stuff though it ruined the game)
