Whats your GOTY so far?

The only game I've purchased this year is Mass Effect: Andromeda. It was a superb play and loved it but I'm back to Division, and I know it's not a game from this year, but I'm still loving it!!

No doubt in my mind 100% PUBG. at 34 years young and a gamer since the age of 7 its hard to keep my attention unless its something new and fun and this game is that ! It's a fun game and very different to other games and to be honest the multiplayer and group games is fantastic, I've had so much fun with the guys on discord playing this game and its still in Alpha and I can see myself playing it for a long time yet. Think have spent over 5 hours on it everyday in the past 2 weeks lol ! Says it all.

Hmm; I think the PC releases this year have been quite poor. Nothing released yet and nothing on the horizon either! Quite disappointing. I really want another Bioshock style game. Guess it's HZD on the PS4 for the moment.
The closest game I can think of the bioshock game is

We Happy Few, it's almost like Bioshock and a Clockwork Orange had a baby, worth a look at

oh man reading the above starting to think I need to shell out on a Nintendo for Zelda..! Not owned a console since N64.

However Oculus is £400 just now! Decisions decisions... :p
Grab a 2nd hand WiiU and a copy of Zelda, honestly the difference between the WiiU and Switch versions are marginal at best

VR is a gimmick and a fad that's already gone the way of the dodo and 3DTV. There are virtually no major game development for it anymore. Save your money.

Not necessarily true, the frame rate on the Wii U version is absymal with a much lower resolution, and is much more consistent on the Switch.

I just can't get my head around the love for PUBG. It's basically the same thing every game.

Hide until the end and run to the middle, that's seemingly the tactic of most. I've tried to like it but I'm bored to tears after the 2nd round. It has zero variety.

4A have new shooter for VR in development, Ready at Dawn, Resi7 is coming, not to mention every simulator coming will probably support it. There is a decent amount of stuff already and more on the way.

VR is neither a gimmick nor a fad and comparing it to 3D TV is extremely disingenuous. I only tried Vive so far, but eventhough it is not perfect yet, it left immense impression, it is basically teleportation device (albeit into virtual places/worlds).

After trying Vive (for about 4 hours) I definitely became convinced to buy VR (probably Oculus, possibly PSVR) once the price drops a bit more.

I'm leaning towards PUBG being my GOTY as well, purely based on it being my most played game by quite a substantial margin.

PUBG seems to be the top runner so far looking through the thread ;) I'll allow it though full release has been pushed back it clearly counts here but won't in an official sense from the big sites etc

PUBG for easily, followed by Prey.
And why do people keep quoting console games, there's a forum section for those......below us. :D

Prey so far for me, although I have high hopes for the new Shadow of Mordor game due out soon.
Put over 100 hours into the first one.

Maybe because the thread title is "what's your GOTY", "not PC GOTY":D It also doesn't help that the vast majority of games I played on PC in the last couple of years were hugely inferior to console exclusives, so I'm forced to mention them:p A lot of us here aren't exclusively PC gamers and I'm surprised at the amount of such comments here. A game is a game.

I hate to say this but it has been the most disappointing years in gaming for a long time. Where are the big genre defining releases?

I blame valve

Fully expecting the new South Park game to be a game of the year contender for me when it comes out in October. Pre-ordered it back in April as a birthday treat to myself - can't wait!
