What's your most expensive clothing purchase?

I have over 10 paris of Oliver Sweeney shoes, most are £250 upwards. I tend to spend a lot on jackets, some were £800 - £1000 for limited editions, most in the £400 range and in the past I've had custom suits over £2K a pop, though today most my suits are circa £400-£600. I have a few pairs of expensive socks, £30 each and jeans I tend not to spend up to £200. I bought 3 more pairs of Adidas Gazelle trainers at the weekend, have 8 pairs now and 3 Munich. I go in cycles, in the 80's I would think nothing of spending £120 on a tracksuit top and £60 on a t-shirt when that was BIG money. Then I went through years of just buying normal stuff, M&S etc but last few years I've tended to but more specialist clothing, shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes, suits etc. I've got a couple of £300 shirts that I bought on whim.

It'll be cut, construction and materials.

TBH it's a bit much to tar the likes of Tom Ford, and even high street chains like Reiss, with the same brush as the gaudy 'designer' gear from the likes of Polo Ralph Lauren and Armani. One set of clothing is about quality, the other is about the badge on the front. I've never understood why some people will pay reasonably large amounts of money to advertise someone else's brand to every passer-by.

My most expensive purchase was my suit at £300. I tend to be quite thrifty though, using the sales, TK Maxx, eBay and other places to bag things on the cheap. Got a leather jacket from John Lewis a couple of weeks back for £70 - probably the best bargain ever.

£200 on a Superdry leather jacket. Had it about four years now and still love it.

Otherwise I don't spend much on clothing, I wear plain tees from the likes of NEXT or Debenhams, and River Island jeans. But that jacket I had to have!

Suit wise (for work) it's usually a combo deal from Debenhams, but even then they're less expensive than the leather jacket.

Genuine question, is it cut to fit better than any other off the rack clothing? At that price I would be expecting a tailored fit so the price seems difficult to justify.

Yes, the fit and finish by far exceed any off the peg item as it’s bespoke to you and are also able to choose you own fabric which obviously varys the price a lot.

Canada Goose parka for about £800. Next expensive is probably just trainers or football boots. I've got quite a few shirts at like £80-90 a pop but wouldn't really class that as expensive these days & jeans are the norm to be upwards of £100 now.

Not much. As long as I look good and the clothing is good quality I dint really care what label is on it.

"Babe we need to buy you some more shirts"

"Ok but I don't want to spend too much money"

"H&M then, decent stuff at a decent price"

So we go to H&M and buy me some shirts for £50, and come home with THREE Michael Kors handbags for her. Women eh?

Had a good night though, if you know what I mean.

About £250 on a quilted jacket from High & Mighty. It keeps me lovely and warm in winter. And autumn. And spring.

£70 on a GuideLondon one of a kind shirt when 18.

Now I think the most expensive thing I have purchased clothing wise (excluding shoes) was a £4.99 Superman T-Shirt in the sale XXXL... That is too small :(

Will never spend more than £5 on clothing for myself and spend a maximum of £30 on trainers. Get a complete years wardrobe every November time for ~£100

Cheapskate
