As above really! Its rare to mix and match, so which server vendor do you use and why?

Me - Sun, because they are the only vendor that I'm aware of that does a 2U quad socket server for a dual socket price, brilliant for VMWare.

HP.

Best local warranty agents (There is no local Dell/Sun/IBM presence) and never had any issues, great standardisation across the DL and ML series and cake to deploy/use.

About 200 HP servers including 8 SAN's, 10 or so Dell and some ageing Compaq ones knocking about.

Another vote for HP here, exceptionally good support and they are very competitive on their pricing.

HP, have to say that since we can re-sell em.
Plus we do a lot of stuff with VMS on Alpha and now on Itanium.

Just like the way HP kit is put together. Dont like the call centre but our usual engineer only lives 20 mins away.

For servers I'm currently trying Sun. They've managed to fit into 1U what everyone else is taking 2U+, and together with their very competitive pricing (no one can seem to match it for us) for Education customers is win win for us :).

Usually I try aim for HP for servers and networking and Dell for workstations :)

Was wondering when someone else would say Sun, thought I might have been the only one! You're right though, they get into 1U what other vendors need 2U to do and they get into 2U what others need 4U for!
The X4440s I've got were priced like DL380s but specced like DL580s, win win :D

Sun I like for some stuff but don't have an across the board product range for me so HP is the usual choice. HP are very good though...
