Around 6ft with a 55" TV.... I still lean forward on the sofa a bit if concentration is needed.

50" Plasma about 2ft off the end of my bed, so 7-8ft roughly. Just right I think really. A decent 1080p film looks amazing, and a good amount of immersion.
