Let's be honest, we all spend some of our workday not working. Going for a coffee. A quick read of the paper. Chatting to your mate about X-factor. Doing this forum!

The question: If theoretically when you got to work you worked 100% solidly as hard as you can, no stops, no breaks, absolutely working your blimin' nut off -- how many hours would you have to work before you'd achieved what it 'normally' takes you a whole day to do?

Me? I reckon if I get to work at 9am, I could be out of the door by 11am each day having achieved about the same as what I 'dossing around included' manage by 5:30pm!

What about you? Working 100% full wack -- how long to do a day's work? be honest!

(small print - if you HAVE to wait for 45 minute, or until 3pm, until, I dunno, the orders arrive each day -- pretend for this question that the thing you require to continue work is available the second you are ready to work on it .. if that makes sense)

My work really depends on what comes through the door when the post is delivered so its peaks and troughs...

If the work was there waiting for me at 8.15, when i start, i reckon on average i could be done by 11ish.

I don't really have set working hours as it could be any of the 24 hours a day. The past few months I've been on nights which is great. Job a knock type thing. Haven't been doing more than an hour, two at max.

Probably about three quarters of the time it currently takes me. That's not due to dossing around - it's just due to not trying to get everything done at breakneck speed.

I work in retail, so this time of year we do comparatively little. Very few customers so we do stocktakes, rearrange the shop, tidy up... a week of that and it's spent. So we wait. And tidy up some more.

But for a lot of the year we're quite busy, so it's up and down all over the place.

Depends how busy we are, 2 days ago I worked all day, even through my lunch, no breaks at all.

Today I've written one email....and that's about it.

I never work at 100% as that'd take it out of me too fast, usually work at about 75% consistently. Slower pace of work, occasionally break for a drink/5 minute forum surf. Could probably finish a few hours earlier each day
